Delta, Kellogg and Schoolcraft Represent MCCAA in Women’s Soccer Preseason Rankings
The countdown to kickoff is officially on as the NJCAA released the 2025 women's soccer preseason rankings on Monday (Aug. 11). All three teams in the preseason ranking conversation, Delta College, Kellogg Community College and Schoolcraft College, made the postseason last year in their respective divisions and are poised to build off successful 2024 campaigns.
The reigning NJCAA Division III National Champions, the Pioneers of Delta College, kick off the 2025 campaign atop their national divisional rankings in the No. 1 spot. Last year, the Pioneers achieved perfection with a 15-0-0 record, including a three-match sweep at the national tournament where they outscored the opposition 17-0. Over the course of seven seasons at the helm, head coach Damon Amey has amassed a stunning 116-6-4 career record with a great portion of the wins coming against NJCAA Division II competition. The Pioneers kick off the 2025 season in style with a pair of matchups against NJCAA Division II ranked opponents at the JUCO Kickoff Classic. On Aug. 23, the NJCAA Division III No. 1 Pioneers battle NJCAA DII No. 3 Heartland. A day later, the Pioneers will take on NJCAA DII No. 14 St. Louis.
Kellogg will begin the season just outside of the top 20 in the receiving votes section of the preseason poll. The back-to-back NJCAA Region XII Division II Champions, Kellogg will look to continue to program's ascension under fifth year head coach Levi Butcher. Over the course of the past two seasons, Butcher and the Bruins have tallied an impressive 23-11-5 overall mark. The Bruins kick off its 2025 campaign August 27 with a non-conference tilt at Grand Rapids Community College.
Schoolcraft, an at-large NJCAA Division II National Championship qualifier last season, checked in at No. 8 in the initial 2025 poll after finishing 2024 with an overall record of 11-3-2. The Ocelots picked up a win in pool play at last year's national championship to cap off a stellar season. Under the direction of fifth year head coach Ken Shingledecker, the Ocelots have remained a mainstay in the national conversation and have amassed a 55-14-9 overall record during that time. The eighth-ranked Ocelots open their 2025 slate at the JUCO Kickoff Classic against Neosho County on Aug. 22 before taking on No. 10 Jones the following day.
