MCCAA Individual wrestling championships set for Saturday at Henry Ford College
On Saturday, wrestlers from the five MCCAA wrestling school will meet at Henry Ford College in Dearborn to compete in the MCCAA individual Wrestling Championship on Saturday. Champions will be crowned in ten weight classes and will earn All-MCCAA honors.
On Saturday, wrestlers from the five MCCAA wrestling schools will meet at Henry Ford College in Dearborn to compete in the MCCAA individual Wrestling Championship on Saturday. Champions will be crowned in ten weight classes and will earn All-MCCAA honors. The MCCAA Wrestler of the Year and Freshman of the Year will also be determined. The tournament will be held at the Athletic Memorial Building on the campus of Henry Ford College. Wrestling starts at 1 PM and will be live streamed at Henryfordhawks.com. Admission to the tournament is $5.00 for adults and $4.00 for seniors. Everyone attending the event MUST fill out the Henry Ford Health and Safety screening (Henry Ford Health & Safety Form) on the day of the event.
Heading into the championship, several MCCAA wrestlers are ranked in the NJCAA individual rankings. In the 125 pound weight class, Will Miller of Mott Community College is ranked ninth. No wrestlers are ranked at 133 and 141. At 149, Elijah Kidder of Henry Ford College is ranked ninth, while in the 157 weight class, Kael Bunce of Muskegon Community College is ranked third. While in the 164-weight class no MCCAA wrestlers are ranked, Muskegon' Josh Kenny is ranked third at 174. Bronson Jewell of Muskegon CC is ranked sixth in the 184 weight class, while Kaleb Venema of Muskegon CC is ranked eighth at 197. No MCCAA wrestlers are ranked in the heavyweight division. The MCCAA team championship was won by November, as Muskegon Community College claimed the crown.
