Grand Rapids, Kipkoech win MCCAA men's cross country championship
The Grand Rapids Community College men's cross country team won the MCCAA men's cross country won their first MCCAA men's cross country title since 1969 and fifth title overall on Saturday at Grand Woods Park in Lansing, MI. The Raiders finished ahead of Jackson College and Macomb Community College.
The Grand Rapids Community College men's cross country team won the MCCAA men's cross country won their first MCCAA men's cross country title since 1969 and fifth title overall on Saturday at Grand Woods Park in Lansing, MI. The Raiders finished ahead of Jackson College and Macomb Community College. St. Clair County Community College fourth, while Oakland Community College finished fifth. Grand Rapids' Matt Sicilia was named MCCAA Coach of the Year.
On the individual side, Joshua Kipkoech of Grand Rapids Community College continued his domination of the MCCAA winning the eight kilometer race in 26:10.2, a minute ahead of Drew Mayes of St. Clair County Community College. Brian Frazee of Kellogg Community College finished third, while Macomb Community College's Collin McNulty was fourth. Oakland Community College's Ethan Rice was fifth and Mott Community College's Nolan Herr. Jackson College's Andrew Frohm was seventh, Grand Rapids' Lance Jourdan was eighth and Jackson's Andy Swihart was ninth. The top nine earned All-MCCAA honors.
Grand Rapids Community College won the NJCAA Region XII Division II Championship as well. Brian Frazee of Kellogg Community College won the NJCAA Region XII Division III individual championship.
The NJCAA National Championships will be hosted by Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, IA on Saturday, November 14, 2020.
